Isaiah 7:14
Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin
shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
Jesus being a god doesn't meet the requirements of this verse.
Immanuel = Elohim shall be with us, or more accurately Elohim shall
tabernacle with us....which this word by itself is to say that the
Host/Elohim/gods shall all be made flesh. In this sense Jesus cannot
be the fulfillment of this scripture. But if one uses the singular
tense of Elohim, which is Eloah, then yes, Jesus would be the
fulfillment of this verse. The reference to ‘a virgin’ is incorrect,
but is rather translated young women. The Prophecy in the 1st place
was given to King Ahaz who was having problems with his wife to
bring forth a offspring. So right there we know she is not a virgin.
'Young Women' in the Greek is always to be interpreted as 'Virgin',
but the problem here is that the Greek language was not the origin
of this prophecy.
The Greek word for God In the NT is both singular and plural, and is
not a perfect match for the Hebrew. |
