Well the answer is yes and no. The
real meaning here according to the OT 10 commandments scenario would
be that adultery is to worship other gods. The other adultery that
most people think this is sounds sort of stupid. If a woman is
having an affair with a man, are they going to engage sex out in the
middle of the street? Or behind closed doors? And if behind closed
doors, then how does a crowd catch them committing adultery? And why
is only the women here guilty of this adultery, but not the man?
Where does it say that you could be stoned to death for committing
this sort of sexual conduct? It does say however that you can be
stoned to death for the worship of other gods. And if Mary Magdalena
was worshipping other gods then she would be doing it out in the
open and so it would be very logical that a crowd caught her in the
act. |
