Matt 16:15
He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
Matt 16:16
And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of
the living God.
Matt 16:17
And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon
Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my
Father which is in heaven.
Matt 16:18
And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, F32 and upon this
rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail
against it.
How did we jump from the importance of a revelation to the focus of
one’s flesh. Yes, Peter had a revelation of who Jesus was. The rock
here is ones personal convictions based on a revelation. Peter was
not the 1st to recognize who Jesus was. What about Simeon who was in
the temple during the time that Jesus was a child and spotted who
Jesus was. Maybe Simeon’s flesh is the true rock?
There is another thing that I would like to clear up at this time.
There are some religious groups, specifically Catholics, that have
made “Peter” the head of the church. Peter was an apostle to the
circumcision/Jewish nation. How were the Catholics able to
substitute Paul, who was the apostle to the gentiles, for Peter
instead? Were the original Catholics Jewish in origin, rather than
Gentile. But I thought the Catholics roots go back to 500 BC and
their religion was Coptic (belief in other Gods, just like the
Romans, Greeks, and Egyptians)? |
