What is meant by Jesus come in the
flesh?
I John 4:2
Hereby * * know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses
that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
"Flesh" should read 'sinful nature'. Yes, that is right, Jesus was
born a sinner, but this is only in reference to his soul, his spirit
is still of God, and as you will see in further study this will show
Jesus the pattern son or the way to salvation. Remember Jesus
becomes sin for us and He doesn't become sin at the cross, or this
would violate the OT standard that the lamb of sacrifice should be
without spot or blemish. However Jesus pays the price of sin by his
death. Jesus dies on the cross a perfect/mature man, but not as God.
Hebrews 2:9
But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for
the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by
the grace of God should taste death for every man.
The better word here for angels should read prophets (OT prophets)
While OT prophets did die, they were not born with sinful natures as
Jesus was born with.
Jeremiah 1:5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and
before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I
ordained thee a prophet unto the nation. |
