Matt7:22
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied
in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name
done many wonderful works?
Matt7:23
And then will I profess unto them *, I never knew you: depart from
me, ye that work iniquity.
This is a very hard subject, and one that has taken me many years to
understand. Jesus here is not using many words, but he is speaking
volumes nonetheless.
Can one effect miracles by just using the name of Jesus in every
circumstance? Well yes and no. The use of the name of Jesus can be
done either in the flesh or in the spirit. In the flesh it can take
on 2 different manifestations. 1st and most seen are the many that
are not prayed up and use the name of Jesus and nothing happens. The
2nd is like the 1st in that it comes from those who don’t know the
mind of the Spirit or have discerning of Spirits along with the
operation of the word of knowledge and/or the word of wisdom. The
2nd one is real tricky, and takes a person who is very sharp in the
spirit to discern it, they have learned to use the latent power of
the soul to mimic the actions of the Spirit. These sort of
ministries spent a great deal of time waiting on the Lord/anointing
and exercise the gifts (which is still a very good discipline), but
their “old man” never engages the cross. This is what Jesus meant
when he said that he never knew them for to know them is know
Himself inside of whoever he wants to know. The work of the Cross on
the old man crucifies/kills it. Doing a healing or whatever in
Jesus’s name takes on a little deeper meaning when the person
becomes Jesus. Remember we all have the opportunity to be like
Jesus, just not greater, and like Jesus means we do as we are shown
from above thru the many different gifts of the spirit. Yes, Jesus,
and other like Jesus have the power, but they do as they are either
shown or told. The others who only get prayed up and don’t kill
their own man, eventually will cave into their flesh’s desire and
thus Jesus will say He never knew them. This is a little more than
mental ascent salvation. Those of you who will say that the power is
all Him, have allowed themselves to believe a lie and follow false
humility. Humility is to state who we are in relation to God and
others. The Holy Spirit and the gifts aren’t luxury items and if we
are going to worship/serve our God in Spirit then we have to get in
touch with our spirit. The spirit, just like our body, needs to be
strong and powerful to do its job. Sure there will be special
manifestations and/or anointings, but everyday life doesn’t work
that way. The notion that we have to have authority and not power is
very dangerous. Remember the devils said to the sons of Seveca,
‘Paul we know and Jesus, who are you?’ If you want to take the false
position that you just need authority, without your own person power
developed thru a walk with God, then you are in for some very
serious hurt.
The circumventing of the work of the Cross in our lives for future
ministry is a serious mistake and has cause the ruination of many
millions of Christians walks/faith worldwide. Unless a grain of
wheat fall to ground and die, it will not bring forth fruit. When
the old man dies and is replaced with the ‘new man/new soul’ then
the gifts become virtues of the new soul, and as a Jesus equal we
operate by the instruction of the Host That fruit/love is to
manifest power via word, healing, salvation. Etc. The love isn’t
some excuse to manifest the flesh via the usual hugs and kisses
program. |
