Heb 11:1
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of
things not seen.
The key word in understanding this verse is the word “evidence”. One
of the evidences or signs is speaking in tongues. Tongues is one the
gifts of the Holy Spirit.
So the gifts of the spirit which are also constitute the substance
of the faith are on loan to us, like a lease.
2Co 1:22
Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our
hearts.
2Co 5:5
Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also
hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.
The earnest of the spirit or the down payment, 10%, will become 100%
and our possession, our virtue, a reinstatement in our souls that we
once had before the fall when the soul or our “old man” dies. It’s
like God does a by-pass surgery on your heart/soul/mind and puts
your body on a temporary life support called the baptism (earnest)
of the Holy Spirit until the heart is taken out (death to the ‘Old
Man’) and a new heart/soul/mind is put in. Now you get the Spirit in
100% measure, and the Soul becomes the dominant player. This can
also be called being married to Jesus, or the full stature in
Christ.
Ga 2:20
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but
Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I
live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself
for me.
Now many will say, hey no problem, I believe that. Really? So, lets
see the Kingdom of God (that refers to the body of Christ, btw)
suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force, but some one
is going to come along and do a mental ascent program and they got
it. This same attitude is manifested by those who say that all the
promises of God are theirs, yeah and amen….but yet know not the
voice of their God or His will and apply the cookie cutter method/
spiritual mechanics/power of positive thinking/witchcraft exclude
the living Jesus, and keep the “old man” (the devil) alive and then
call it a walk God and just like Watchman Nee said in “The Latent
Power of the Soul”, the immature Christian will produce the same
results as those that have a new soul. Even St. John of the Cross
would say that the soul should be like a clear pane of glass to
allow the spirit of God to shine thru. My argument goes a step
further and makes a new soul by the work of the Cross. Now the new
soul is like a faucet, and the spirit is like the water. Before the
work of the Cross one is spirit led, but after the work of the cross
all power in heaven and earth is given a person, just like it was
given to Jesus, after all Jesus showed us the way. So follow him,
but pick up your cross. |
